This year, 475 works were submitted by 232 companies, and five winners of CET Trend Award and 25 winners of Cultural and Creative Award have been selected. According to Ministry of Culture, this year’s award-winning works reflect contemporary design languages through explosive cultural contents, painting a comprehensive picture of local lifestyle, and will lead Taiwan towards the world.

Ministry of Culture also points out that Cultural and Creative Award was established at the first CET in 2010. The purpose of the award is to enhance the innovativeness of local industries and create quality lifestyle of Taiwan through competition, and continue to accumulate local industries’ innovative energy. Through evaluation by jurors with global perspectives, thirty works at the 2017 CET that have the richest cultural contents and display innovative trends have been selected. The winning works this year will be specially indicated in the venues of CET, and are expected to be decisive indicators attracting the attention of professional buyers and the general public.
Furthermore, another feature of the award ceremony was the banquet themed “Family Banquet in Spring.” Planned by Director Gan Ke-ping of Seedesign, each course was made with local produce; combined with seasonal ingredients and local cultural elements, Director Gan delved deep into the local stories and spirit behind the ingredients, presenting a “family banquet” of Taiwan. The banquet also featured performance by Golden Melody Award-winner Lin Sheng-xiang. Through the five senses of “seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling,” the banquet fully expressed Taiwan’s exclusive flavors, spreading this taste of culture to the world.
To sustain the flavors and tastes of “family banquet,” pop-up store “Private Groceries” will be open at Huashan 1914 Creative Park for the duration of CET, selling wonderful flavors from the 368 townships and villages in Taiwan. Each day, the shop has planned a theme, “Fruits, Rice, Sauce, Salt, Water and Plants,” to discover the relationship between us and the land, environment, and others, and identify the various emotional marks in life. Welcome to visit “Private Groceries” and purchase local flavors of Taiwan.
Creative Expo Taiwan 2017 takes place at Huashan 1914 Creative Park (Crafts), Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (Design), and Expo Dome (Licensing) from today to April 23, presenting Taiwan’s local culture and connecting Taiwanese culture with the world. Everyone is welcome.
