Exhibition introduction

As AI replaces everything, humanity becomes compressed data in a futuristic cloud archive. This exhibition, structured around the theme “archiving, reading, and decompressing humanity,” invites visitors into a cold server room to realize how we are losing our true selves to big data.

The space is constructed from numerous "data boxes," symbolizing the stark datafication of human nature. Against a cool, light-blue background, orange boxes stand out to represent the warmth of humanity, housing the beautiful facets of our existence. In the "Experience Archive," we read life scripts shaped by personal journeys. The "Emotion Archive" captures our deep connection with the world through emotional data, while the "Belief Archive" highlights unyielding resilience and persistence.

Rather than mourning loss, this exhibition celebrates the best of human nature. Ultimately, based on the artworks you resonate with, the system "decompresses" your unique traits and issues a cultural prescription. We hope to remind you that while embracing technology, we must cherish the beauty of lived experiences and reclaim our most complete selves.

Founded in Tokyo in 2017, S.SELECT LAB merges Japanese and Taiwanese design perspectives to deliver strategic branding services. Balancing operational needs with aesthetics, the studio provides tailored solutions spanning research, strategy, visual design, and curation. They have created brands like NIBUNNO (a design hotel in Tokyo) and EP Print, while executing diverse projects for global clients including Apple Japan, Airbnb, Keikyu Electric Railway, Taiwan Design Research Institute, Giant Group, Gamania Group, and TAITRA.

Graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts with a master's in design, Weijhe Lin previously worked at Japan's GK Design Group. In 2017, he founded S.SELECT LAB, providing integrated design services across Taiwan and Japan, including brand integration, exhibition curation, signage systems, and visual design.
